As clearly stated in the collected works of the 15th Gyalwang Karmapa Khakyap Dorje, the third Dolpo Shelri Chogtrul Ogyen Tenzin Rabkay(1871-1922) was the personification of Repa Shiwa O. Repa Shiwa O was one of the “eight great sons of Milarepa.” Chogtrul Tenzin Rabkay received propound teachings, oral transmissions and empowerments of different texts of the Buddha dharma from the 15th Gyalwang Karmapa adhering as his familial  lord. After receiving and hearing as many teachings as he could from his root master, he, for the first time brought Rinchen Terzod (the Precious Treasure) to Dolpo and also founded Tsakhang Monastery. He was a reputed and learned lama from a noble family, without comparison in the stream of knowledge and practices.

His biological son, the second Nyinchung Drubthop Dampa, who had excellent experiences and realization of Buddha dharma, tamed the wrathful spirit that was a challenging force of the time. His reputation and fame flourished not only in Dolpo but also in Mugu and Mustang district of Nepal and Upper Ngari region of Tibet. His son Chogtrul Tenzin Choesang Rinpoche and grand-son Nyinchung Dungse Rinpoche are also popular among their devotees. This sacred dharma lineage holds both religious and social importance in the region.
